The Chamber of Commerce has joined ALEC in an anti-solar message by attacking net metering. It has been telling its members that net metering policies are unfair because solar users receive a credit, while everyone else is paying for the upkeep of the grid. But it has failed to mention that the community is actually paying for the pollution generated by other energy sources.
This type of one-sided message ignores the benefits of solar in reducing the problems caused by energy sources based exclusively on fossil fuels.
The Chamber of Commerce has a history of association with ALEC and is on a number of its task forces. The Chamber has also lobbied against climate change legislation in the past.
